Police may have suspect in fatal hit-and-run

When there is a car accident in Pittsburgh or anywhere in Pennsylvania, it is imperative that those involved stop their vehicle. This is to check on the condition of others who were in the crash, to call for emergency assistance if it is needed, and to adhere to the law and exchange insurance information. Unfortunately, some people do not follow this law and decide to flee the scene.

This is made substantially worse when it is a vehicle-pedestrian crash. Because people are so inherently vulnerable when hit by a car, there is a good chance that there will be catastrophic injuries or fatalities. If it was a hit-and-run crash, the family of the victim must make certain to protect themselves by taking the necessary steps to file a wrongful death lawsuit.

A 50-year-old local attorney was killed when he was hit by a car as he was leaving a store and crossing the street to a restaurant. The man was declared dead at the scene. The vehicle fled the scene. According to law enforcement, a white Subaru Legacy from 2008 or 2009 hit the man and took off. As they investigate, law enforcement is focusing on a female suspect. There was a surveillance video taken of the vehicle as it departed the scene.

When there is a fatal accident, there are a litany of factors that the family must consider. There will be funeral expenses, of course. But, after that, they might have trouble making ends meet. This is especially true if the person who died was the breadwinner in the household. Other issues that will come up are the personal and emotional problems that a family must face when losing a loved one so suddenly. When the case is a hit-and-run, it is of specific importance that the family protect itself as the investigation is underway, as any information can be essential to a legal case.
